Attentive review

Attentive suits an ecommerce brand that wants SMS and email campaigns plus triggered journeys, with regional setup handled through a success manager and hands-on onboarding. Attentive publishes no Australian per-message rate on its quote-based pricing page, so a written quote and contract terms are needed before you can judge cost. Australian SMS runs on long codes, so you will send from a phone number rather than a branded sender name. Confirm media capability, reply handling and consent duties before signing.

Where Attentive stands

Attentive suits an ecommerce brand running SMS campaigns and triggered journeys. Australian SMS sends from long codes, and Attentive says it declined alphanumeric sender IDs, so you cannot send with a branded name. Recipients can reply, and you need staff or an integration to handle responses. Confirm the Australian MMS sender type and billed composition in your quote, since the current April provider article covers SMS only.

How Attentive prices

Attentive does not publish a numeric Australian rate card. Its general billing documentation says outbound messages and subscriber responses are billed, and it describes a monthly base fee plus possible negotiated minimum commitments, with shortfalls invoiced at the end of a commitment period. Your actual SMS and MMS rates appear in the contract Order Details and on invoices. Confirm in the written Australian quote which of these terms apply to you.

Attentive pricing and contracts

Attentive's pricing page describes usage-based pricing and states no credit system is required, but publishes no Australian per-message rate, leaving currency, fees and commitment details to the written quote.

Attentive's billing guide says subscriber replies may be charged, and describes a monthly base fee with negotiated minimum commitments, invoicing any shortfall at the end of a commitment period.

Treat that as general guidance, not proof of one universal Australian contract. Ask your written quote to settle currency, fees, commitments and the actual SMS and MMS rates in the contract Order Details. Reconcile the Billable Spend report against each invoice, since it excludes non-usage items.

Australian senders and replies

Attentive's Australian sender guide says its Australian SMS program runs on long codes, and Attentive declined alphanumeric sender IDs in Australia and internationally.

ACMA says phone-number-only senders that use no branded sender ID need no Sender ID Register action. Sending still carries marketing duties, including sender identification with contact details and a working unsubscribe.

Recipients can reply, so assign staff or an integration to handle responses, though the guide verifies the SMS sender type only. Ask Attentive which MMS arrangement and billed composition apply to your account.

Regional accounts and store setup

Attentive's regional setup guide gives each region its own address, legal-page links, quiet hours, unsubscribe and auto-response settings. SMS sign-up units need separate regional and language configuration, while email-only creatives can be shared.

Multi-region eligibility and setup go through your customer success manager. Attentive's multi-region FAQ permits only one ecommerce platform per account, so different platforms in different regions need separate accounts.

Combining existing Attentive regional accounts loses some historical performance and behavioural data, and sign-up units, segments and journeys need recreating. That guidance covers Attentive consolidation, not every migration from another provider.

Attentive's subscriber upload guide says the uploader supports opt-ins only. Opt-outs are processed through the Attentive contact or support team, so agree how your old suppression list will be applied before you send.

Upload only currently opted-in audiences, remove unsubscribed phone numbers, and check your configured welcome message before importing, since imports can trigger welcome messaging. Download the row-error report and fix invalid rows. Yotpo SMS was decommissioned by the end of 2025. If you are moving across, our retirement review explains the withdrawal and its limits. A shutdown does not itself establish new consent for anyone on your old list.

ACMA's marketing guidance says a purchase alone does not establish inferred consent, and an email address is not automatic SMS consent. Keep records of who consented, when and how, and see our Australian SMS rules page for the duties.

Test campaigns and journeys

Attentive's campaign composer guide shows a media send may bill as one MMS plus added SMS segments for some text lengths. Confirm Australian media capability and billed composition in your account or quote.

Build test segments on country of residence rather than recent location, which can reflect travel. Schedule with a specific Australian timezone, since missing timezone data can fall back to an unsuitable default zone.

Check final expanded text with our SMS character counter, then separately confirm billed parts in Attentive, since the counter alone does not establish them. Test the opt-out path, reply to check staff follow-up, trigger the welcome path and fire a changed order event, with our SMS automation guide covering controls to set first.

Attentive support and trial limits

That public pricing page lists dedicated support, onboarding, strategic support and a success manager as package features, and offers trials through a request form. It states no Australian support staffing, support hours or response commitments.

No trial duration is stated either, so treat those as questions to resolve in writing. Before a trial starts, agree who the Australian recipients are and which sender will actually send.

Also settle the sending allowance, the SMS, MMS and reply scope, and the conditions for converting to a paid contract. Do not assume a fixed entitlement, and ask for the trial terms alongside the written quote.

Who should choose Attentive

Attentive fits an ecommerce brand running coordinated SMS and email campaigns with triggered journeys, where regional setup and hands-on onboarding matter.

Attentive is a weaker fit if you want a branded Australian sender name or a published rate card, so get the written quote and contract Order Details before signing.

Reconcile the Billable Spend report against each invoice, since it excludes base fees, shortfalls and credits. A clear SMS marketing comparison of written quotes will show whether Attentive terms match what competitors offer.
