BE Messaging review

BE Messaging is a business messaging desk from Binary Elements, a Melbourne company, built around a real Australian business mobile number. Campaign SMS costs 6.00c a message at one thousand a month and 5.00c at fifteen thousand, excluding GST, on top of a monthly fee for each service number. Your whole team answers customers from one shared inbox on your own mobile number, with two-way MMS and inbound calls on that same number.

Not yet scored

One of the 17 providers with a published Australian rate, and one of 45 brands reviewed. Not yet scored, so it holds no position in the ranked table.

Right for you if
  • You want a shared inbox on a business 04, with history that stays when staff leave
  • You want inbound messages to open cases in an unassigned queue
  • Campaigns end with Reply STOP to opt out, and a STOP reply builds your do-not-send list
  • The minimum term is one month, then month to month
Look elsewhere if
  • Your volume is mostly campaign blasts, since BE Messaging says it is not competing on cents per SMS
  • You need recurring scheduled sends, which are stated as not available
  • You want published support hours or an uptime commitment, since neither is published
  • You need email to SMS, SMPP or RCS, since none is mentioned

Where BE Messaging stands

BE Messaging is a business messaging product from Binary Elements, a Melbourne company. It puts a shared inbox on a real Australian 04 mobile number for a whole team. Every number carries a Desk fee, $79 a month for 1 to 2 numbers, $69 for 3 to 10, $59 for 11 or more, including 1,500 conversational SMS and 150 MMS. Campaign SMS outside the allowance cost 6.0c each under 5,000 a month, 5.0c from 5,000 and 4.5c from 50,000. The Desk fee buys a shared inbox, cases, two-way MMS and inbound voice on a business 04, so the price per campaign SMS is not the whole cost. One number plus 1,000 campaign SMS in a month is $139 excluding GST.

Campaign and overage SMS in Australian dollars excluding GST, on a three-band table keyed to monthly volume: 6.0c under 5,000 a month, 5.0c from 5,000 and 4.5c from 50,000. These rates sit on top of a monthly fee for each 04 service number (a "Desk"): $79 a number for 1 to 2 numbers, $69 for 3 to 10 and $59 for 11 or more. Each number includes 1,500 SMS and 150 MMS a month, but only for conversational traffic on a thread, "not campaign blasts", so the included allowance is not netted off the campaign rates carried here. Fifteen portal users are included, then $10 a user a month. Minimum term one month, then month to month. The pricing page calls its totals indicative, "not a binding invoice"; inbound voice, the BE AI agent and number porting are quoted by sales.

The business messaging desk

BE Messaging is a business messaging product from Binary Elements, a Melbourne company. It calls itself "the business messaging desk for Australian 04s". Your customer texts a real Australian 04 that belongs to your business, and your whole team answers from one shared inbox.

An inbound message can open a case in an unassigned queue, and the first person to reply takes it. Cases close with an outcome: resolved, no reply needed, wrong number or spam.

Customers can send photos to the business 04 and they land in the same thread. Staff can send images back, and inbound voice calls can be received on the same number, priced by sales quote.

BE Messaging says the product is for operations teams, practice managers, trade offices and wholesale counters. It says: "We are not competing on cents per SMS."

How the Desk fee works

Every 04 service number is a "Desk" with a monthly fee: $79 a number for 1 to 2 numbers, $69 for 3 to 10, and $59 for 11 or more.

Each number includes 1,500 SMS and 150 MMS a month for conversational traffic on a thread, not campaign blasts. MMS over the included 150 a number is 25c each.

Campaign SMS, and any SMS over the allowance, are metered by monthly volume: 6.00c each at 1,000 a month, 5.00c at 15,000, 4.50c at 125,000 and 4.50c at 250,000.

Fifteen portal users are included per company. Extra users cost $10 a user a month, and the pricing page calls its estimate "indicative".

One number plus 1,000 campaign SMS in a month comes to $79 plus $60, or $139 excluding GST. One number plus 15,000 campaign SMS comes to $79 plus $750, or $829 excluding GST.

A self-serve trial starts with one number, and BE Messaging does not state how long it lasts or what it includes.

Campaigns and sender ID

A campaign is a one-off scheduled send in the company timezone, to imported contacts, with templates and personalisation fields. The campaigns page says: "Not recurring. Not full spreadsheet mail-merge."

Campaign messages end with "Reply STOP to opt out" automatically, a STOP reply adds that mobile to the company do-not-send list, and replies come back into the shared inbox.

Campaigns can send from a registered alphanumeric sender ID, and BE Messaging says it helps customers register one. Replies cannot come back to a brand name, so conversations stay on the business 04.

ACMA says any participating telco or message provider can register your sender ID with an ABN. Its list shows Binary Elements in one role, originating telco (read 19 September 2026 and re-checked 21 September 2026). So on ACMA's list, BE Messaging can register a sender ID for a business with an ABN. A business without an ABN needs a certified telco or a partner of one.

The Telstra Desktop Messaging exit

BE Messaging has a page for Telstra Desktop Messaging customers. The page lists these Telstra dates:

  • No longer sold to new customers from 30 June 2025
  • Withdrawn for small and medium business on 10 November 2025
  • Enterprise accounts frozen from 6 August 2026
  • Withdrawn from the market on 9 November 2026

BE Messaging says it has no one-click importer from Telstra, and the offer is to bring the number and the inbox across, with porting by sales quote. It states it is independent of Telstra.

Developers and the API

Developers get a REST API at /api/v1 with scoped API keys, which are shown once and stored hashed. HMAC-signed webhooks cover inbound and delivery events, and MCP lets hosted AI assistants work the same inbox.

The full API documentation sits inside the portal and needs a sign-in to read.

What is not published

No support hours or support days are published, and there is no uptime figure or service level agreement.

No founding year is published, and we could find no rating on Trustpilot, ProductReview.com.au or G2.

Email to SMS, SMPP, RCS, keyword auto-replies and a Zapier integration are not mentioned, and no security certification such as ISO/IEC 27001 or SOC 2 is stated.

BE Messaging questions

How much does BE Messaging cost?

Every 04 service number carries a monthly Desk fee: $79 a number for 1 to 2 numbers, $69 for 3 to 10, and $59 for 11 or more, excluding GST. Each number includes 1,500 conversational SMS and 150 MMS, and campaign SMS cost 6.00c each at 1,000 a month and 5.00c at 15,000.

Do the included 1,500 SMS cover campaigns?

No. The allowance covers conversational traffic on a thread only, and campaign blasts are excluded. Campaign SMS are metered by monthly volume, at 6.00c each at 1,000 a month and 5.00c at 15,000. One number plus 1,000 campaign SMS in a month comes to $139 excluding GST.

Can BE Messaging replace Telstra Desktop Messaging?

BE Messaging has a page for Telstra Desktop Messaging customers, and the offer is to bring the number and the inbox across. It says it has no one-click importer from Telstra. The page lists Telstra Desktop Messaging as withdrawn from the market on 9 November 2026, and BE Messaging states it is independent of Telstra.

Can BE Messaging register a sender ID?

Yes, for a business with an ABN. ACMA's list shows Binary Elements as an originating telco only, so BE Messaging can register an alphanumeric sender ID for you and send campaigns from it. Without an ABN, ACMA's rule says you need a certified telco or a partner of one. Replies cannot come back to a brand name sender ID.
