Textmagic pricing

Textmagic prices on a flat rate. It charges 7.00c per SMS at one thousand messages a month, and the same 7.00c at fifteen thousand. The flat rate also applies at 7.00c and 7.00c, because no volume ladder is published, so the price never falls as your sending grows.

That rate buys a standard-length plain-text message, or a shorter Unicode message, to Australian mobiles, quoted in Australian dollars. Inbound SMS is free. A free account comes with test credits, no contract, and a money-back guarantee on unused credits.

Two costs sit outside the headline rate. A dedicated number costs A$19 a number a month, first month free; an alphanumeric sender ID is A$10 per campaign a month, first month free, with approval taking up to 14 days as published, and the alphanumeric sender ID carries a monthly fee per campaign and can take up to two weeks to approve. A lower rate shown on the same page applies only to messages sent from numbers on your own Twilio, Vonage, Sinch or Bandwidth account, with that provider's fees on top.

The pricing page lists MMS, but its FAQ says MMS is available in North America only, so MMS is not available for Australian sending. The next section covers what the platform itself publishes for Australian senders.

Textmagic features for Australian senders

Textmagic publishes an API, email to SMS, two-way SMS, a dedicated number and an alphanumeric sender ID. It does not publish MMS to Australian mobiles, and it publishes nothing either way about SMPP, RCS or a shared number, so this review claims none of them.

Its API is REST with JSON, with authentication through a username and API key sent as HTTP headers or HTTP Basic auth. A browser-based API Sandbox runs requests against your own account without writing code. The API has a requests-per-second limit, lower on some contact and list endpoints, and it pushes delivery receipts and replies to a URL you supply. Official libraries cover PHP, Node.js, Java, C# / VB.NET, C++, Python, Perl, Ruby, Go, Delphi and Bash.

Email to SMS sends from your inbox to the number at textmagic dot com in international format. You choose whether the subject line, the body or both becomes the message, set a maximum length, and use cut phrases to trim the text. An Allowed emails list authorises addresses you own or control. For addresses you do not own, Textmagic points to SMS distribution lists instead. Replies arrive as emails in your inbox and also show in Messenger.

The web app imports recipients from CSV or Excel files. You upload the file, match its columns to Textmagic contact fields, select a list, then insert those fields as merge tags on the Compose page. The platform states it holds SOC 2 Type II. The rules around sender IDs come next.

Textmagic sender ID and the ACMA register

ACMA's approved list for the SMS Sender ID Register does not list Textmagic under its own name. It may register sender IDs through a listed partner, and the list cannot show whether it does. Your business can therefore register a sender ID through Textmagic only by way of such a partner, and the approval path sits outside ACMA's published list.

The alphanumeric sender ID carries a monthly fee per campaign and can take up to two weeks to approve. That wait matters for campaign timing. Support and reputation follow.

Textmagic support and reputation

Textmagic offers email and contact form support around the clock. Phone support is limited to UTC windows on weekdays and weekends per its help centre FAQ, which conflicts with an around-the-clock claim on its pricing page. An Australian support number is listed on its help centre.

Its pricing page carries a "99.9% uptime guarantee" is listed among the features included for every account; the Terms of Service contain no uptime commitment, SLA document, service credit or remedy uptime guarantee. It scores 4.7 from 298 public reviews. The company began as TextMagic Ltd in 2001 and is now TextMagic AS, a subsidiary of Monday Media OÜ, registered in Tallinn and listed on Nasdaq First North Baltic, with no Australian office or entity. Its pricing page also carries US campaign registration lines that do not apply in Australia.

Those strengths and gaps shape who the platform suits.

Who Textmagic suits

Textmagic suits a business that wants one flat rate in Australian dollars, free inbound SMS, email support at any hour, and a money-back guarantee on unused credits. It also suits a sender happy to work through an API or the web app without volume pricing.

A business that needs an Australian entity, phone support in Australian hours, MMS, or a rate that drops with volume should look elsewhere. Textmagic offers none of those four.
