Cellcast

9.0out of 10

Cellcast sells fixed prepaid credit bundles rather than pricing on monthly volume, so every rate here is the cheapest published combination of bundles that covers the month: 3.7c at 1,000, 3.1c at 15,000 and 2.83c at both 125,000 and 250,000. Mobile Message publishes 3.5c and 3.0c at the lower two volumes and 2.5c at the upper two, so Cellcast is second cheapest in Australian dollars at all four rather than cheapest at any, which several older pages on this site still say it is. Above 100,000 messages a month Cellcast asks you to contact it for a quote, so a large sender may do better than the published figure. Shared numbers and replies are free and credits never expire. Its two absolute claims, a 100% uptime SLA and a 100% delivery guarantee, are published without any supporting document, and its pricing page advertises a lowest-price rating attributed to this site while deep-linking our own comparison table.

What is SMS Gateway API?

An SMS Gateway API (Application Programming Interface) is a software interface that enables communication between an application and an SMS gateway provider. The API provides a set of protocols and routines for building software and applications that can interact with the provider and send SMS messages programmatically.

The SMS Gateway API allows developers to integrate SMS messaging capabilities into their applications, allowing users to send SMS messages directly from their applications. This can be useful for businesses that send SMS messages to their customers, employees, or other stakeholders as part of their communication or marketing efforts.

The SMS Gateway API can send and receive text messages, manage contacts and groups, and more. It typically provides methods for sending and receiving SMS messages and managing contacts, groups, and message delivery reports.

The SMS gateway provider typically provides the SMS Gateway API and can be used with various programming languages, including Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, and others. By using an SMS Gateway API, businesses and developers can more effectively communicate with their customers, employees, and other stakeholders by taking advantage of the power and convenience of SMS messaging.

You can easily add text messaging to your current CRM or e-commerce system.

An SMS gateway lets you send text messages directly from your existing applications. This service connects your applications to a text messaging system, ensuring your messages are sent reliably. An SMS gateway uses an Application Programming Interface (API) to let two different applications communicate.

An API consists of rules and tools enabling different software to interact, simplifying the process of transforming an email into a text message for a phone. SMS providers offer various APIs, including REST, SOAP, and RPC. However, you can overlook the technical specifics. These technologies facilitate a seamless conversion of emails to text messages.

You don’t need to download or install software on your computer to access an SMS gateway service. It’s entirely web-based, which means it runs online without affecting your computer’s performance or compromising data security. All you need is a web browser and an internet connection.

Key benefits of using SMS Gateway APIs include:

  • Quick message delivery.
  • Simple to integrate into your systems.
  • Secure Messaging.
  • Continuous operation for your business.
  • Supports different technical standards (like SMTP, HTTP, SMPP, and WSDL).
  • Automates sending messages.
  • Can handle increasing amounts of messages as your needs grow.

SMS API Text Message Gateway

SMS gateway API in PHP

The SMS Gateway integration process is straightforward and requires less time. A text message can be quickly sent from a website using the SMS gateway API and PHP (Hypertext preprocessor). The SMS provider can create one-way, two-way, or both-way message systems; it just depends on what the business wants from this type of communication.

The terms HTML and PHP need to be explained. HTML is the information technology language that is used to explain to a browser how to display text in a browser window. It is not a programming language. HTML will work on your computer. PHP is different because it is a scripting language used to develop web pages written in HTML format.

To send SMS messages with a PHP script, select a reliable SMS gateway provider that meets your needs. Once you’ve chosen the SMS gateway and familiarized yourself with the procedure, the provider will help you integrate the SMS gateway into your PHP script.

SMS gateway API integration in PHP

Millions of organisations use API integration as an easy way to improve the way business communication can effectively take place.  When distributing bulk SMS, this can happen by allowing you to connect from your software or CRM directly into the provider’s gateway using their API platform. This way, by connecting via an API, you will know the text messages you have instructed the provider to send using their platform. After the SMS delivery, you can request a receipt of the effectiveness of the distribution. This takes only a few minutes, saving you time and resources. Another advantage of the API system is that it can create and edit new user credentials.

By engaging a Gateway API provider, you will need to see the variety of options available to integrate your mobile messaging service into their operations seamlessly. APIs should provide clients with all aspects of their business, whether it is applications, websites, intranets, CRMs, or other software. Not only is integration important, but reporting, accessibility, and the ability to customise features or scripting to their APIs are also critical.

Take an example within the health sector, using an SMS gateway API will allow health professionals to:

  • Allow appointment rescheduling should an appointment be missed;
  • Alert for patient reminders;
  • Alerts for emergencies and incidents thereby maintain open communications;
  • Alert staff to fill shifts at short notice and
  • Analyse traffic with real-time analytics.

About SMS Gateway API image 2

Cheap SMS gateway API

Evaluating the features and costs of various budget SMS gateway APIs is essential when assessing their pricing. While checking the price per SMS may suggest a fair rate, other vital factors require attention. Consider delivery time, reliability, confidentiality, uptime guarantee, and support availability.

Regarding cost comparison, two Australian SMS providers, Cellcast and Notifyre, were found to be more affordable alongside Mobile Message. These companies provided the cheapest rate cards based on the number of text messages distributed, regardless of whether the volume was low or high. On average, their rates were approximately 10 to 15 per cent lower than those of other well-known Australian SMS providers.

The graphical representation of cheap SMS gateway API providers below indicates the range of pricing considering all of the above factors mentioned in this section.

Price is only one factor. You need to see if there is a monthly fee or a setup fee, the type of payment mode required, and what kind of contractual agreement the business and the provider have.

International SMS gateway API

There are so many international SMS gateway providers that it would take pages of listings. Many international SMS providers state they can launch text messages to over 200 countries using their SMS gateway API platform. They also outline that they can offer SMS text, voice call blasts, surveys, polls, reminders and SMS auto-reply campaigns very promptly. Their telecommunication carriers are said to integrate fully with their platforms. It’s just a matter of setting up a mobile interaction overseas via API from your website, app, and database to the international provider.

You need to check to see if international SMS gateway API companies charge a monthly fee, minimum fees, or upfront costs so you pay for what you use.

If you seek a reliable international SMS gateway API provider, please ensure it offers secure authentication, session tracking, 2-way messaging, and a cost allocation comparable to Australian SMS providers.

How we scored these providers

Every provider on this page is scored out of 10 on one method, applied the same way to all of them: published price at four volume tiers, sender and number options, sending methods, stated carrier routes, uptime terms and support cover.

We do not open accounts and we do not send test traffic. Every figure here comes from a page the provider or a named third party publishes, and the date it was read is on the review it came from. Where a provider publishes nothing for a field, this page leaves it blank rather than filling it in. A provider we have not yet scored is shown without a score rather than with a low one.

The table is ranked on the overall score. Read the full method.
